Advocates of distance education have called on government to embrace the open university system and speed up processes for academic excellence and quality Human Resources.
In a meeting in Accra on Tuesday, the advocates outlined the benefits and structure and operations of the academic system. They emphasized that “not all SHS leavers will have the privilege to be a regular student because of financial support so he or she has to work and school thus long distant education ‘’.
“ Presidents Obasanjo of Nigeria and Nelson Mandela of South Africa are all beneficiaries of distance educational programs so this system should be fully encouraged and accepted” they added.
This distance education system offers everyone the opportunity to attain high learning qualification without going through the regular process.
