The Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta on Thursday 19Th July 2018 presented the mid-year budget review to parliament giving an account of the ‘’Planting for Food and Jobs’’ policy under the Akufo-Addo government.
The Minister revealed that a sum of GHC 700 million was used in the implementation of the program out of which over GHC 300 million was released to fund the various components of the program.
He also said a total of 6000 metric tonnes (Mt) of improved seeds (79%) of cereals and vegetables have been distributed throughout the country.
He further stated that fertilizer companies have been engaged for the supply and distribution of 27000 Mt of both organic and inorganic fertilizers at 50% subsidised price.
“Evaluation of bids have been completed for the construction of of both of 30 new warehouses to be equipped with seed cleaners, dryers, and weighing scales in strategic Districts in the Ashanti, Bring Ahafo, Volta, Northern, Upper East and Upper west regions’’ he stated.
