On Tuesday evening, Egypt's World Cup dream completely came to an end as host nation Russia defeated them in a disappointing 3-1 loss in St. Petersburg.
The Pharaohs of Egypt faced their difficult test as the captain of the Egyptian side Ahmed Fathy opened the scoring with an own goal in the 47th minute.
Denis Cherishev doubled and fifteen minutes later it was already 3-0 for the Russians.
Mohamed Salah grabbed the consolation goal from a penalty kick and made it 3-1 for Egypt after recovering from a shoulder injury.
Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez's lone goal over Saudi Arabia earlier today confirmed Egypt’s knock-out from the tournament.
Egypt will play their final group stages match against Saudi Arabia.
