Residents of Asylum down have expressed worry over the bad state of their bridge which is endangering lives at the vicinity.
The bridge which serves as the main passage for pedestrians has been posing risks to them and unfortunately, the bridge has broken down due to torrential rains yesterday.
“The incident is therefore causing fear among the residents as they are tossed between using the bridge to commute from their places of abode back and forth or finding alternative routes which are obviously difficult to locate”, a resident said.
Another resident, speaking to gijonlinenews.com, stated "I have been in asylum down for the past 20 years now and this bridge has been in this unsafe state since, I heard it has been renovated in the past but since I wasn't here I am not so sure"
