ECG Denies Pokuase Residents Chance To Watch World Cup

ECG logoThe Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG), has since the beginning of the Russia 2018 World cup on Thursday, denied residents of Mayera – Pokuase, the opportunity to watch some of the matches due to frequent cut in power supply.

Lights were out in the town during the opening ceremony and opening game of the tournament with ECG issuing no statement with regards to why there have been power outages in the town for the past few days.

The last statement released by ECG (on their website) about power outage on June 14th, 2018 in some parts of Accra, did not include the Mayera – Pokuase Area. 

Due to this development, many football fans in the town were unhappy with the constant cut in their power supply as they were not included in the statement.

Some residents expressed their dissatisfaction about the frequent power cut and speaking to, a resident, David Lartey, expressed his concerns, saying, “I have no option than to stay away from the tele[vision] or to go out……. I felt bad.”Mr. Lartey also affirmed that ECG is denying him the opportunity to watch the world cup and pleaded with them to rectify the problem.
Residents missed the opening ceremony as well as the opening match between host nation, Russia and Saudi Arabia on Thursday, June 14, 2018 and other games.
