The Ghana Institute of Journalism today formally ushered in fresh men and women into its degree, diploma and master’s programme for the 2017/18 academic year.
Rector of the Institute, Dr. Wilberforce S. Dzisah admonished matriculants to pledge their allegiance to all rules governing the school as they partook in the institute’s longstanding matriculation oath.
“The oath signals your preparedness to be obedient to the Rector, the Chief Disciplinarian as well as other officers of the Institute,” he noted adding, “I wish to congratulate you for gaining admission into the Ghana Institute of Journalism. As matriculants you must be proud of being here on merit after you have satisfied all basic requirements to be admitted into the Institute.”
1750 undergraduate students consisting of 1100 degree and 650 diploma students were granted admission whereas at the graduate level, 300 applicants were offered admission.
In attendance at the 17th Matriculation were the Vice Rector of the Institute, Mr. Ebo Afful; the Registrar, Mr. Perry Ofosu; Deans, Heads of Departments, and Lecturers as well as guests and parents.
