Sampson King Aford, popularly known as 'Strongman', is a Public Relations student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
He is the incumbent External Affair Commissioner of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for the 2017/2018 academic year.
He is also the current Executive Producer of the ‘Drive Time’ Show on Radio GIJ as well as the Immediate Past President of Echo of Leadership, GIJ Chapter.
Early Life and Education
Sampson King Aford was born in Kasoa, a town in the Central Region, and hails from Kpando in the Volta Region of Ghana. He received his basic education at the Thanks High School in Kasoa, where he was the Assistant School Prefect, and completed in 2010. He continued his secondary education at the Winneba Senior High School and he was a member of the Writers and Debater’s Club. He also worked at the school’s dispensary as a dispenser.
Samson mentioned that around this time in his life, there were some challenges within his family which came close to terminating his secondary education but his mother’s daily ‘susu’ savings helped them to survive.
Under his administration as the President of Echo of Leadership, a campus-based club, the club saw a tremendous transformation. He initiated the League of Young Communicators Summit where individuals in the field of communication met and shared ideas and experiences.
He also introduced the Self Leadership Master Class and was also one of the coordinators of the maiden GIJ Eminence Awards in 2016. Samson is also the Director of Communication at Summit Drive Ghana, an NGO, where with his fellows, he visits various government schools to donate some stationery and empower and influence the students there to have an expectation in life.
