Aduana Star’s Richard Mpong has indicated interest in playing for the London based football Club, Chelsea FC.
The 26 year old midfielder who currently competes in the Glo Premier League plays his professional football for Aduana FC based in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region.
As an old student of Oforipanyin Senior High School, Richard was spotted as a young talent during his early school days playing domestic inter-house soccer competition which gave him the opportunity to play in the school team.
His career as a Professional footballer started in 2006, signing for All Blacks FC.
In 2008, he completed a transfer to the then Kessben FC now known as Medeama SC.
As Richard’s early career got spicier, he landed a move to one of the most successful local clubs in Ghana, Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 2012.
Making his first National team appearance at the 2007 U17 world cup, Richard won Ghana’s first All African Games football gold medal with Ghana’s under 23 squad at Maputo, Mozambique in 2011.
In 2012, the young star scored a late equalizer on his debut day match for the Senior National Soccer Team – Black Stars – against Chile.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with gijonlinenews.com, Richard revealed when given an opportunity to compete in the senior national team again, he would make a tremendous come back and “a great impact.”
“Everyone has a playing style, and I play as a right midfielder, so I can do great if I am called to the Black Stars” he said.
“It is my dream to play for Chelsea and currently if I would move to Chelsea, I expect a transfer deal of not less than 100,000”, he added.
