About 7500 customers have complained about the recent billing anomalies by the Electricity Company of Ghana. According to Mr. Adam Mutawakilu, the vice chairman of the Mines and Energy Committee, set up in parliament to investigate the errors in the billing system conducted by the electricity company of Ghana, the over-billing is due to the implementation of the new software as well as faulty meters. He also added that ECG is currently addressing the case.
Following the mines and energy committee report which states that no electricity consumer should pay beyond the 92 percent tariff hike, Mr. Adam, said "if a customer is over-billed, it is certain that he would be compensated’’. This he said in an interview on Joy fm.
Consumers who still have problems are advised to contact the ECG help center for their challenges to be addressed.
