The democratic state of Ghana has opened the gate for spiritual leaders to voice out their prophecies with regards to the upcoming elections.  Over the years, Ghana has witnessed prophecies from spiritualists of diverse religious background concerning the winner of the impending elections.

Notable among them is Rev.Owusu Bempah, Mallam Jibril, and a few others. In 2008, renowned Highlife artist Nana Kwame Ampadu hinted God had revealed the end results of the elections to him and that the NPP will emerge winners.

Unfortunately, the elections went in favour of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under the flagbearship of Professor John Evans Atta Mills. Prophet T.B Joshua of Nigeria and the general overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) was said to be the main architect of the victory.  Quite recently on Radio,  one Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi of the Glorious wave Ministry revealed how he predicted the 2008 elections which according to him was meant to be won by the NPP but the candidate of the NDC came to see him to plead with God to revert the decision.
The trend however, seems not to have changed in the run of to the 2016 general elections.

The question then remains: Does spirituality play a role in elections?

A “mallam” was said to have predicted the outcome of Nigeria's elections where Buhari emerged the winner.

Speaking on Atinka Fm's Edwumaa oo, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi said "If Nana wants to win the election, he knows what to do. If he doesn’t do it, President Mahama will once again snatch victory from him…”

“Spiritually, if you look at it, Nana Addo has won the election but how to make that manifest in the physical realm is another issue," he said.

In a similar development, Rev Owusu Bempah made predictions in favour of the New Patriotic Party candidate, Nana Akufo Addo.

"Nana Akufo Addo will win the elections, everyone should take note of it. But there will be a controversy and that will bring the challenges. People should take note of the date that I made this revelation"

He continued "…Whoever can enter the spiritual realm should do so and verify if what I am saying is the truth,” he noted on Restoration with Stacy on TV3.

My query still remains: Does spirituality determine the fate of our nation?
