Days following the passing of Nigerian football legend Stephen Keshi, the West African giants have been hit with yet another bad news.
Former Coach of the Super Eagles Shaibu Amodu has been reported dead following complaints of chest pain, and is suspected to have died in his sleep on Saturday morning in Benin City, same city where Keshi died. Reports reaching gijonlinenews indicate that his corpse has been deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital morgue in Benin City.
Aged 58, Shaibu Amodu was one of the most successful coaches in Nigerian football and Keshi was once his assistant. He was the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation and became caretaker coach of the Super Eagles in 2015 following end of Keshi’s term. The 58-year old qualified the Super Eagles for the World Cup two times, 2002 and 2010, but on both occasions, he was not allowed to lead the team to the biggest tournament in football.
Amodu managed clubs including Orlando Pirates of South Africa, Shooting Stars, Elkameni warriors and BCC Lions in Nigeria.
