The Greater Accra Hockey Association (GAHA) has begun their 2016/17 hockey league season in earnest with a fascinating start to the season..
The season started over the weekend with various thrilling contest at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch in Accra.
The season opener saw ten games in total which started from Friday. The top liner of week one was the match in the men’s category between Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Customs and Ark Men which the former won convincingly by three goals to nil.
Exchequers also put up a splendid performance to thump Reformers by 7 goals to 2 in same category whilst Police handed a 6-0 defeat to Legon Knights in the last game of the men’s category.
Meanwhile in the women’s division, Reformers won by 7-0 against Amazing Grace, with Ark Ladies recording a 1-3 loss to Extinguishers, whilst GRA (Customs) humiliated Real Ambassadors by 10 goals to nothing.
In the Youth category, Ark Boys lost 1-2 to Tema Youth with Young Financiers drawing 1-1 with Tema Manhean.
The Masters division witnessed Sapholda beat Goldensticks by 3-1 with Multistix netting five times against Veterans.
The week two of the league fixtures will continue this weekend with interesting matches to look up to at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch in Accra.
