Medeama sporting club on Sunday afternoon lost their group A caf confederation cup opener to TP Mazembe at the stade du TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi Dr Congo. The Ghanaians were the first to open the score line when Malik Akowuah scored in the second minute of the first half. But the Ghanaian side was unable to hold the lead when Zambian International Rainford Kalaba drew level for the Congolese side in the sixteenth minutes.
With just a minute to end the first half, Malian import Salif Coulibaly scored to give the home side the lead before the referee Bernard Camille from Seychelles blew his whistle for the end of the first half. Mazembe continued to pile pressure on Medeama in the second half and in the 70th minute Rainford Kalaba made it three for the Congolese scoring brace on the day.
Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei and Solomon Asante also featured for TP Mazembe. Medeama will host MO Bejaia of Algeria on Wednesday 29th June in their next group A match of the competition.
