This year’s internship programme for students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism begun on the 6th of June, 2016. The three month programme involves level 300 and diploma 1 students moving to the final year next academic year.
The internship programmes are compulsory part of studies in most professional training institutions that allow students to acquire on the job training and understand professional job culture before graduation.
This year over 1,400 students are to take part in the programme. 923 students from the diploma level and over 480 from level 300 would participate in the programme which ends in August.
Due to the large number of students this year, the programme has been divided into two segments. One batch would practice on campus working as reporters for gijnewsonline.com, The Communicator, PR Today, GIJ Radio and TV journalism. Students on out of campus internship have been posted to various media, corporate organizations, financial institutions and State Ministries across the country.
